About Ann Marie O'Dell

The first three years of gardening I realized “thy will be done” had nothing to do with me. My plants were going to grow exactly where and how they wanted. From sixty species I ended up with mostly hardy native prairie plants. Oh how I wanted a perfect magazine cover garden. I discovered a simple group of Daisies add theater drama to a beautiful stone sculpture. One by one the “Feng Shui” of my gardens, spiritual art work, directional planting all shook hands and agreed to be one.

I have been told that my gardens are "playful" and have a mystical, free form essence. Some say that describes me as well. {I have a secret....I consult my Garden Spirit on every aspect of the land.}

Gardens truly become an extension of ourselves. There is an old theory that says "to know a persons true personality look no further then their pet." This is also true of our gardens which will take on the essence of what we love, whether it be indoor house plants or an outdoor meditation room. At this point may I also add that Meditation can be a walk with morning coffee, or a place to just sit and think. Garden rules of pruning, planting, weeding and soil chemistry will not change. They are the basics of beautiful mystic sanctuaries.

As a young Indigo child there wasn’t a name for children suffering from what Ann Marie calls “Additional Dimension Disorder." Spinning circles towards the energy of people, animals, trees, and houses she was completely overwhelmed with a gift that she did not understand, nor had any ability how to control. Yrs ago no one had understanding of "Whale Children," who "Pinged" like sonar bouncing their energy like satellites on their surroundings, constantly in a state of "reading and processing" information. It is through gardens and the earth, Ann Marie was grounded, leading to her book, “Gardens of the Sisterhood”.
